First well done to BEFS on your posting record. I can't see how you did it.
This was my 1st sail for 2004, and it felt pretty cold. Got to the lake
'bout 10:30, Julian was heading out on a 7m. I didn't think it was gonna be
that windy and came with my bigger kit. So I went out on the 135 and my
6.3. Got going no problem and came in for T and get through the finger
hots. Out again the gybes started clicking properly and felt good. I went
right up the lake to the flag and then got well overpowered as the wind
steadily rose. I just got in before a hideous squall that looked like an
evil fog rolling down the lake appeared from the WSW. It was like hail, and
it killed the wind after it had paeed over. Another cuppa was in order.
Then the wind came back with a vengence. The midday arrivals like Neil,
Geordy and Colin started running round frantically rigging anything from
4.4 to 5.5, as the wind topped 40mph, and was averaging over 30. Saw Neil
getting some air on his Free Sex, or was that free sex on his Air...? Half
an hour later it steadied to a nice 20mph again. So off I went again on my
6.3m. Did more fast reaches and generally enjoyed myself, until, due to
lack of sailing I started to get a bit tired in my back. I'm still not
fully used to a wave harness over a seat harness. Someone nicked my seat
harness mid summer at the lake last year, I was well p**ssed off. The wind
was generally up and down, but sticking with the same rig, for me saved a
lot of time, and probably gave me the best sail too! See you soon.... Tim
